Landolin Ohmacht was a German sculptor born in Dunningen in November 1760 who began his artistic journey with an apprenticeship in wood carving in Triberg, located in the Black Forest region, around 1772. He then worked in Freiburg im Breisgau before receiving support from his future father-in-law to join the studio of sculptor Johann Peter Melchior in Frankenthal. Later, he continued his work in Mannheim.

Between 1788 and 1790, Ohmacht spent time in Switzerland, creating miniature busts and relief portraits in alabaster, including notable works depicting Peter Ochs in Basel. He then traveled to Rome, Frankfurt, Vienna, Munich, Dresden, and Hamburg before finally settling in Strasbourg. In 1798, he married Sophie Gassner, the daughter of the mayor of Rottweil. Ohmacht's artistic career was marked by his talent and versatility, as he left behind a notable body of work across different regions.
